Job Description

Interactive Full Stack Software Developer—pretty straightforward, don’t you think?

Not necessarily. Firespring is looking for a superstar to lead a special task force into a new digital world. We are hiring a full stack web application developer to help engineer and shape our internal and client-based solutions. As a full stack developer, you will be tasked with researching, architecting, developing and supporting applications that drive results for users and stakeholders. Qualified candidates will have experience with various software languages and frameworks and be knowledgeable of modern application patterns and trends.

You’ll be getting in on the ground level and playing a key role in shaping a growing team and the architecture and systems we use to solve complex problems. You’ll help us decide what solutions to key business problems look like, and then execute on those plans using the best tools for the job.

If you’re already ready to accept this mission, read on, Commander.

Requirements:

  • We value innovative web programming and interactive development. If you have the skills, be ready to put ‘em to work.
  • Do you have a borderline unhealthy knowledge of Ruby on Rails, Laravel and related technologies (Javascript, Postgresql, APIs, etc)? If so, that’s a good thing. Familiarity with Git and Linux will also help you fit in.
  • Object orientation and object inheritance models are like second nature to you.
  • You’re experienced in using React, SCSS, HTML(5) and Typescript/Javascript to enhance the world around you.
  • You’re cozy with various coding tools such as Yarn, NPM, RSpec, PHPUnit, Composer and Bundler.
  • In the fight against perfection paralysis, you give your absolute best to meet deadlines, yet you’re still willing to release your project into the wild when the time comes.
  • You’re not a fool. You know constant learning is the key to staying on top, so you are all about adding weapons to your cerebral arsenal.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Frontend frameworks such as Bootstrap/Materialize/Semantic UI/Foundation etc.
  • Docker experience
  • Mobile App Development experience
  • Automatic deployment services and/or continuous integration suites (Travis CI, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
  • Queuing and caching

Bonus:

Relocation cost reimbursement is possible for qualified candidates.

Compensation and Benefits

  • SalaryYou don’t need to go to the grocery store to bring home the bacon. We reward candidates who wow us by offering competitive pay.

  • VacationPaid holidays are a no brainer, but how does unlimited, paid vacation sound? Too good to be true? It’s not. Salaried employees of Firespring are encouraged to take what they need when it comes to vacation and sick time.

  • 401(k)Your parents preached about the importance of saving. Now we’re helping you get it done. Firespring provides professional financial advisors who will help you make a plan and guide your investments.

  • FunMillions of people go to work, punch the clock from 8 to 5 and hate every moment of it—that’s not the case here. We have an indoor slide, a game room that includes shuffleboard, a pool table, a foosball table, a ping pong table and more. To put it mildly, we’re serious about having fun.

  • Miscellaneous BenefitsNot all benefits are about the Benjamins, baby. Some of the things you’ll enjoy while working here include unlimited soda, tea, lemonade, and beer. And don’t worry about your duds—business-casual is the dress code here. Still looking to make your cubicle-shackled friends jealous of your new gig? Our company-wide social and recreational activities are sure to do just that.
