  • Firespring only hires passionate, ambitious people—the type who “bring it” every day, have each other’s back and truly give a shit.

  • Inc. Magazine named us one of 50 honorees nationwide for their inaugural Best Workplaces Award in 2016.
  • We love to give back to the community. In fact, Firespringers receive a paid day off every month to volunteer for a nonprofit of their choice.
  • In 2014, we became the first Certified B Corporation in Nebraska, joining 2,000+ companies leading a global movement to redefine success in business.
  • Our B Corp status cements our core purpose of leveraging our people, products and profit as a force for good.

That’s the skinny on who we are. Now we want to tell you about who we’re looking for.

Job Description

Our ideal candidate is proficient in designing print and web layouts, being comfortable with conceptualizing an idea and following it through to the finished product. Some tangible mediums you may work your magic on include brochures, brand identity materials, catalogs, billboards, newspaper and magazine ads. Candidates should be comfortable doing two kinds of work: thoughtful, strategic long-form design projects where you get to flex your creative muscles, as well as smaller fast-turn projects and print file preparation. There is no design project too small—you consider all design work important and you can be relied on to jump in on anything with heart and creativity.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative concepts and solutions that are on strategy.
  • Establish a track record of producing work that is well received by our clients.
  • Collaborate with writers, art directors and other team members to brainstorm solutions for our clients.
  • Contribute to the strategic thinking that drives the creative work.
  • Manage design details, project deadlines and follow jobs through to completion to ensure that the creative vision for the work is realized.
  • Record time spent on projects accurately.
  • Prepare client files for print production.

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) on a Mac operating system to produce layouts.
  • 2 to 4 year degree in related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Drawing or illustration ability is beneficial.
  • A design portfolio (of client or student work) that demonstrates a solid understanding of design principles, versatility and good design sense.
  • A team-focused attitude, enthusiasm for learning and thirst for experience.

  • 2 or more years of professional design experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of MS Office is a plus.
  • Experience with Flash/Adobe Animate is a plus-plus.
