Job Description

Our Marketing & Print team is seeking our next Director of Design! We could start with the laundry list of desired traits—eye for detail, deep design chops, great communicator, and so on—but that much should be obvious to a visionary creative leader like you. So let’s cut to the chase.

Our ideal candidate will be ready to create proposals, pitch ideas to prospects and clients, and generally ensure that design projects stay on track. As a leader and the manager for your team, you do not shy away from holding others accountable for their creative quality and overall efforts. You serve up information and creative direction in a clear and concise way and are readily adaptable in your own communication methods and style. Overall, facilitating a creative and inviting work environment is one of your most prominent talents.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and hold the design team accountable.
  • Cultivate and maintain a creative environment for the design team here at Firespring.
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions and conceive major client strategy and tactics ideas.
  • Lead client design strategy, fully understanding how that strategy will influence the client tactics and deliverables.
  • Masterfully communicate your thoughts and processes to not only your team and other directors, but our clients.
  • Be the go-to expert for all things trending in the design and advertising world.
  • Present work both internally and to our clients in a clear, confident and strategic way.

Qualifications

  • Degree in graphic design, art, communications or a related field preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of graphic fundamentals, print and web capabilities as well as marketing and advertising principles.
  • Five or more years of experience in design, brand development and design project management.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign...)
  • Previous managerial experience.
  • Strong people, persuasion and presentation skills to keep clients and team members satisfied.
  • An attention to detail that rivals Sherlock. (Pipe and hat not required)
  • A flair for design that would curl Dali’s mustache.
